Mothers Day Classic and Pink Day

19-May-2010

The Mother's Day Classic is a fun walk and run that helps to raise money for breast cancer research. This year’s event was the most successful since its inception thirteen years ago - attracting an overwhelming 100,000 participants nationally.

Superpartners were proud to be a National Silver sponsor of the event this year marking the 11th year in a row that Superpartners have sponsored this fantastic cause. “This year, we’ve been really focused on further developing our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, now called ‘SPirit’, and creating more opportunities for Superpartners employees to support our community.  The Mother’s Day Classic is always the main event in the SPirit calendar.  It provides us with the unique opportunity to come together to support this deserving cause and at the same time, help Women in Super (organisers of the Mothers Day Classic) to make this national event a fantastic success,” said Marnie Carroll, Events and Sponsorship Consultant at Superpartners.

This year saw the largest ever Superpartners team, consisting of over 200 Superpartners employees along with their family and friends taking part in the event nationally.

The marquee in Melbourne formed the meeting place for 4km and 8km walkers and 4km and 8km runners. It also provided the Superpartners team members with a place to relax after their event and enjoy the well deserved refreshments.

Coupled with the Mothers Day Classic, Superpartners hosted “Pink Day” on Friday 7 May to raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The day gave employees who weren’t able to participate in the Mother's Day Classic an opportunity to take part in breast cancer fundraising activities. Some of our employees with special talents took part in our first ever talent auction offering services such as cookery, embroidery, photography and even a comedy show to the highest bidder!  Employees were encouraged to come to work in pink outfits and decorate their teams in pink. A night’s hotel stay was the prize for the two best dressed employees and the teams with the most creatively decorated work spaces won a pink cake to share for morning tea.

National Breast Cancer Foundation merchandise was sold, pink jelly bean counting competitions were run and numerous other fundraising activities took place across Superpartners.  The result of all the fundraising efforts was a remarkable $10,000.  Superpartners generously contributed an additional $5,000 making our total donation to the National Breast Cancer Foundation $15,000.

My role in the Sourcing team is to monitor and negotiate contracts for our accommodation, stationery and corporate travel suppliers. I am also the SAP trainer for the procurement area of the business.

On weekends I work at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which is great as I love AFL football. I love gardening and watching old movies. I also knit and crochet blankets for the homeless in my spare time.
